When I began working in design, I took as my mantra the principle that design is not only all-important, it is ever-reaching and all-encompassing. Design, in a manner of speaking, is everything.
Steve Jobs taught me to design everything, plan everything, improve everything. From the texture of a surface to the balance of an appropriate font. From the nuance of proportion to the small details that rarely, if ever, are apparent to the casual eye. No one else may be aware of them, but you will be aware of them. So think of everything. Perfect everything. Because design is everything.
In my life and work, I have looked to three design icons as role models. Steve Jobs was one of those role models.
Thank you, Steve.
